About Selectra
Selectra is a young company. It was founded in France in 2007 and arrived in Italy in 2015. It operates in the utilities sector: electricity, gas, and internet. Selectra’s core business is helping customers choose and activate contracts, making the process as hassle-free as possible, especially with regard to bureaucracy. The company has 150 employees in Italy.
The Challenge
The main challenge for Selectra revolves around communication. Both internal communication, between teams and managers and across different teams, and external communication, in conveying the company’s values to the public. Another challenge concerns self-communication: every manager has a different leadership style that they must be fully aware of in order to operate effectively.
The second challenge is improving the giving and receiving of feedback. Most managers are individual contributors, who grew within the company and became managers at Selectra. Many of the managers were experiencing their first structured, long-term training program.
The Solution
The structure of the Leadership Academy intrigued Selectra’s HR team. They were particularly impressed by the fact that the program is more than just a course, but a journey developed with a clear strategy to guide managers over time on all the key topics of leadership.
They appreciated that the program was cyclical, meaning it revisited key topics that were considered most important by the managers multiple times over the months. The participation of executive leaders with significant experience in multinational brands was also a decisive factor in their choice.
The Impact
Selectra participants greatly appreciated the opportunity to connect with some of Italy’s top executives for two main reasons: first, the chance to learn from their mistakes, as they too have faced the same challenges that managers encounter; second, to draw inspiration from their success stories.
In summary, sharing real stories of failures and successes served as a strong motivator.
There was an increase in awareness of their roles among Selectra’s managers. As a result, their communication with each other and within their teams also improved.
The next success story could be yours.
